Embassy attended a merit-making activity on the occasion of Songkran Festival at Srinagarindravararam Temple

On Sunday, April 16th 2023, Mr. Chittipat Tongprasroeth,  Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Swiss Confederation, Holy See and Liechtenstein, spouse, and embassy staff, attended a merit-making activity on the occasion of Songkran Festival at Srinagarindravararam Temple in Gretzenbach, Canton Solothurn of Switzerland.

In his inaugural speech, Ambassador Chittipat emphasized the importance of Songkran Festival as a celebration of Thai New Year, including Thai Family Day, which falls on April 14th. The Festival is also a cultural heritage of the country that vividly represents Thainess and is known all over the world. At the beginning of 2023, UNESCO approved the inclusion of ‘Songkran Festival in Thailand’ in the tentative list to be considered as Thailand’s Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) later this year.
