Do I still need to post the document to the Embassy or come in person? |
No. All visa applications must be submitted through the e-Visa portal (www.thaievisa.go.th) |
What is a stickerless e-Visa? |
The Embassy is now using e-Visa system, which eliminates the need for applicants to submit their passport and original supporting documents by mail or in person. The outcome of your application will be sent via email. Successful applicants will receive their e-Visa via email and must print it out to present to airlines and Thai Immigration. Currently, applicants can apply for all types of visas through the e-Visa portal, except for the Thailand Elite visa. |
How to apply? |
1. Check whether you need a visa to travel to Thailand for tourism purposes at www.thaievisa.go.th 2. If you need a visa, please apply at www.thaievisa.go.th : For more information regarding the e-Visa, you can check the webpage to see the Video User Manual (click here) or download the Manual here. |
What is the processing time for e-visa? |
Applicants are advised to apply for a visa at least one month before the intended travel date but should refrain from applying more than three months in advance. Several factors influence visa processing times; however, you should expect updates on your visa application dashboard within 10 business days. |
How to check your e-Visa application status? |
Applicants can check their visa status at www.thaievisa.go.th (click here to see how to check the status online). Note: The visa application process starts when all the required documents are uploaded. After the submission of all documents, expect up to 5 days for the visa application status to be updated. If the visa application status does not update, it is likely your application is not completed or the provided documents did not meet the requirements. |
If the application status is "Payment problem / Pending payment", what should I do? |
If you successfully submitted the application in the system, the status will not show "pending payment", but will show "processing". If the status of your application shows “pending payment”, please proceed with your payment. See sections below/read the User Manual / watch the video manual for more information.
In cases where the system indicates “payment failed or cancelled”, please try to use a different bank card or contact your card issuer or bank. The transaction is an international transaction and your issuer/bank may suspect it as a fraudulent activity. Once the issuer/bank has been informed, you can attempt the payment again. In cases where the system indicates “The service has a problem or not available now”, please check your internet connection or try to switch to a different web browser. If you have tried the recommendations above and are still unable to make payment, please email us at [email protected] and include all of the following information: 1. Your full name as it appears on the application and E-Visa Request No. 2. An explanation of your problem. 3. Video recording of your computer screen when making the payment Only send us this information if you have already tried the above instructions including contacting your card issuer/bank. The response time for a request is up to 5 business days.

If the application status is "request document" but I don't know what is/are being requested, what should I do? |
In cases where the Embassy needs more information or documents, the system will automatically send an email directly to the applicant (at email address provided in the system). Please check your email thoroughly, including your junk/spam box. If you would like to inquire further about the requested document, you can email to [email protected] with your question. Please include Full Name, Passport number, and Type of visa requested in the email. Due to the high volume of emails that the Embassy receives, please allow up to 3 business days for a reply. |
If the application status is "delivered visa by email" but I cannot find it |
You can sign-in to your account on Thai e-Visa portal to download the e-Visa. |
The Consulate-General requests a Foreign Insurance Certificate but I am not sure where to get it |

What are: 1) Validity of visa, 2) Length of stay in Thailand, 3) Extension of stay? |
Validity of visa refers to the period that travelers must use that visa to enter Thailand. This is not the permitted period of stay in Thailand which will be determined by the Immigration Officer at the port of entry. Length of stay in Thailand refers to the permitted time period that the traveler may remain in Thailand. This will be determined at the port of entry with a stamp from the Immigration Officer. Extension of stay: If travelers would like to extend their period of stay in Thailand, they must contact the Immigration Bureau directly when they are in Thailand. Visas cannot be renewed. Applicants must apply for a new visa. Should you need to get a new visa, please apply at www.thaievisa.go.th |
If my visa information is incorrect, how do I fix it? |
Visa will be issued based on the information applicants fill in the system. Please make sure that you fill in information correctly. Once the application has been submitted, the information cannot be revised. If your information is incorrect, you must reapply for a new visa and pay the visa fee again. Please double-check your information before submitting your application. |
Can one account be used to apply for more than one person? |
Yes. Travelers who plan to travel with family, friends, or coworkers may apply under one account on the Thai e-Visa portal. One person can create an account and use the account to apply for family members/friends/coworkers. There is no need to create an account for each person. However, a visa application is for each individual. Please make sure that you complete the application for every traveler. |
