How to apply for an E-Visa (Stickerless Visa)
Since 22 November 2021, the Royal Thai Embassy in Bern has only accepted visa applications and payments online.

The Embassy urges all applicants to thoroughly read through the e-Visa System user's manual or watch the user's manual video clips prior to starting the application process and to exercise caution in completing their applications to avoid any possible mistakes, which could lead to cancellation or rejection of the applications.
Application processing fee (visa fee) CANNOT be refunded in either case.

Visa News
- Swiss/Liechtenstein citizens are eligible to enter and stay in Thailand for a period not exceeding 60 days without a visa under the Visa Exemption Scheme, for tourism purposes and short business engagements, provided they meet certain conditions.
- Foreign nationals who hold travel documents/passports issued by the Swiss government are NOT entitled to the Visa Exemption Scheme.
General Information
- A Thai visa is an official document issued by the Thai government to a foreigner wishing to travel to Thailand. The type of visa required depends on the purpose of the visit.

- Individuals currently residing in Switzerland/Liechtenstein with valid proof of residency may apply for e-Visas through the Royal Thai Embassy, Bern. Those residing outside Switzerland/Liechtenstein, regardless of nationality, are advised to contact the Royal Thai Embassy in their respective countries or regions. Please note that the Embassy is unable to issue visas for individuals who are already in Thailand or wish to extend their stay beyond the period granted by the immigration officer upon arrival.
- Applicants are strongly advised to apply for a visa at least 30 days prior to their intended date of departure. However, please refrain from submitting an application more than 90 days in advance, as most visas are valid for 90 days from the date of issuance. Submitting an application too early may result in the visa expiring before the planned travel date, in which case a new application and additional payment would be required.
- Processing time: visa applications submitted to the Royal Thai Embassy, Bern generally require approximately 10 business days for processing. Applications by certain nationals can take up to 8-12 weeks. During this time, applicants may check the status of their applications through the online visa system.
- Visa fee: visa fee is non-refundable so please double-check that all your information is correct before submitting. Once submitted, the application CANNOT be amended. - Period of visa validity is NOT the permitted period of stay. Visa validity is the period during which a visa can be used to enter Thailand. Period of stay is granted by an immigration officer upon arrival at the port of entry in accordance with the type of visa and relevant laws.
- Consular officers reserve the right to request additional documents/interview in person at the Embassy, amend visa categories as deemed necessary, and reject any application without the obligation to provide justification.
- In the case that applicants do not submit requested additional documents within 30 days from the date of submission, the applications will be cancelled without prior notice.
- The Royal Thai Embassy, Bern has the authority to issue visas for foreigners wishing to travel to Thailand. However, the authority to permit entry and stay in the country rests solely with the Thai Immigration Bureau.
Remarks
Nigerian nationals are required to submit the following documents for application of all types of visas:
- an original criminal record issued by the Swiss authority with validity not less than 3 months; and
- an original Certificate of Clearance from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency of Nigeria (NDLED) with validity not less than 3 months. The Certificate of Clearance must be legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria and the Royal Thai Embassy in Abuja.
