Thai ID Card
General
- Thai nationals can apply for national ID card from the age of 7 years old. The first ID card can only be issued in Thailand.
- Applicants must book an appointment online in advance at: https://www.thaiembassy.ch/Appointment Please select the service "Thai ID Card"
1. In case the ID card is about to expire / has already expired
You may apply for a new ID card either 60 days before or after the expiration date. For example, if the ID card expires on 1 August 2016, the applicant can apply for a new one from 1 June 2016 onward.
Required documents:
- Current Thai ID card
- Thai household registration (if submitting a copy instead of the original, please show the page with house number and applicant's name)
- Thai passport
- Swiss residence permit (Aufenthaltsbewilligung: B or C) or a valid Swiss passport
- Application form for Thai ID card
Fee: None
2. In case of loss of the ID card
Required documents:
- Copy of the lost Thai ID card (if available), or Thai driver’s license, or any official Thai document showing a photo, full name, and 13-digit Thai ID number
- Thai household registration (if submitting a copy instead of the original, please show the page with house number and applicant's name)
- Thai passport
- Swiss residence permit (Aufenthaltsbewilligung: B or C) or a valid Swiss passport
- Application form for Thai ID card
Fee: 5 CHF
3. In case of name or surname changes on the ID card
Required documents:
- Current Thai ID card
- Thai household registration (if submitting a copy instead of the original, please show the page with house number and applicant's name)
- Thai passport
- Name/surname change certificate issued by a Thai local authority
- Swiss residence permit (Aufenthaltsbewilligung: B or C) or a valid Swiss passport
- Swiss marriage certificate (only the first page that shows name and surname in English)
- Application form for Thai ID card
Fee: 5 CHF
Remarks: If the original documents are unavailable, clear, complete, and accurate copies may be accepted. However, the Embassy reserves the right to reject any application that does not meet the required documentation criteria.
