1. Documents from Thai Parents

2. Child’s Documents

2.1 Local birth certificate from the Swiss municipality or canton, certified by a Swiss government authority (You can download the list of agencies that certify Swiss birth certificates here)

2.2 Birth document from the hospital showing details such as the child’s name, hospital name, and birth weight, etc.

2.3 One color photograph (1 or 2 inches in size)

 

3. Documents from Non-Thai Parent (Swiss or Other Nationality)

3.1 Passport

 

Procedure

1. Applicants must prepare and send copies of all required documents along with a contact phone number in advance by post to the Embassy. Please clearly mark the envelope with “Birth Registration Section” to allow the staff to prepare and review the documents for scheduling an appointment.

2. On the appointment day, the applicant must present original documents listed in items 1–3 to the officer. If original documents cannot be presented, certified and clear copies may be accepted. However, the Embassy reserves the right to decline applications that do not meet the required documentation standards.

 

Remarks

1. If the parents are legally married under Swiss law:

The Embassy cannot proceed if the parents wish the child to use a surname that does not belong to either parent.
