On 5 April 2022, H.E. Mr. Chittipat Tongprasroeth presented his Letters of Credence to H.E. Mr. Ignazio Cassis, President and Head of Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation, and officially assuming his duty as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Swiss Confederation.
During the discussion following the presentation of the credentials, both sides emphasized the long-standing relations between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Swiss Confederation and their commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties at all levels, in particular, people-to-people contact. They also expressed readiness to promote cooperation in all areas, including multilateral cooperation. Among the topics being discussed was the following up on the results of H.E. Mr. President’ visit to the Kingdom of Thailand in 2021, in his capacity as Vice President and Head of Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, e.g. the negotiation on Thailand - EFTA Free Trade Agreement and the Joint Statement on Climate Change Cooperation, which both sides signed on 28 May 2021.
Before assuming the position of the Thai Ambassador to the Swiss Confederation, H.E. Mr. Chittipat Tongprasroeth, served at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand in Bangkok as Chief of Protocol. He also used to serve as Deputy Consul-General at the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Frankfurt, Federal Republic of Germany, and First Secretary at the Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Thailand to the United Nations in New Year, United States of America.
