Meeting between the ASEAN Committee in Bern and Members of the Swiss Parliament
On 13 June 2019, Ambassador Chakri Srichawana delivered his remarks on behalf of the ASEAN Committee in Berne (ACB) at the Swiss Parliament in a meeting between the ACB and the Swiss Parliamentarians, including Mrs. Roberta Pantani, President of Suisse – Thailand Parliamentary Friendship Group and incoming President of ASEAN – Switzerland Parliamentary Friendship Group and Mr. Thomas Asechi, current President of ASEAN – Switzerland Parliamentary Friendship Group, Ms. Sibel Arslan, and Mr. Claude Begle, members of Foreign Policy Committee of the Swiss Parliament. The event was co-organized by the Royal Thai Embassy in Bern, the Swiss Parliament and the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.
The purpose of the event is to raise awareness of ASEAN’s interests and identity in Switzerland and to promote further cooperation between ASEAN and Switzerland, particularly in the areas for mutual interest and benefit.
Moreover, a delegation from the ASEAN Institute for Peace and Reconciliation or ASEAN-IPR, an entity renowned for research and capacity building activities on peace, conflict management and conflict resolution in the Southeast Asia also participated in the meeting to strengthen the cooperation in the areas of peace development and reconciliation in the region.
