The Election Commission of Thailand has set Sunday, 24 March 2019, as the date for the next general election, following the issuance of a royal decree on 23 January 2019, authorizing the election of members of the House of Representatives.

Chairman of the Election Commission Ittiporn Boonpracong said that eligible voters may register for advance voting inside and outside their constituencies, as well as inside and outside the Kingdom, from 28 January to 19 February.

Advance voting for Thais living overseas will take place between 4-16 March, while advance voting for voters inside and outside their constituencies in the Kingdom will be held on 17 March.

Applications for candidates in the election of members of the House of Representatives on a constituency basis will be accepted from 4-8 February. During this period, political parties are required to submit lists of their party-list candidates and nominate candidates to be elected as the prime minister. Mr. Ittiporn stressed that the Election Commission would do its best to ensure a free and fair election.
